Your memory belongs to you.

Fengchao is a purely local memory management tool. This policy says one thing: Fengchao does not collect, does not upload any of your data. Because your memory only ever moves between your own devices.

Scope: this policy covers both Fengchao for Mac and Memory Hive Mobile (iOS / iPadOS). The mobile app is the companion to the desktop app; both share the same memory base. The mobile app's data flow is described in section 2.

1. Where data is stored

All Fengchao memory data (conversation records, todos, docs, rules, images, etc.) is stored on your own computer's local disk, in a directory you choose at install time.

Fengchao and its operator do not hold, do not upload, do not back up any of your memory data. If your data isn't on your computer, it isn't anywhere.

2. The mobile app: your phone is a remote, not a cloud

"Memory Hive Mobile" creates no account and keeps no memory in the cloud. What it does is carry the thoughts you jot down over your own local network to the computer where you run Fengchao; the actual memory always lands on that computer.

• There is exactly one destination: phone → (your local network, address entered by you) → your own computer. Nothing passes through any server of ours — we have no server to receive it.
• No model API key is configured on the phone. Queries run on the computer; whether a third-party model is called, and which one, depends entirely on your settings there (see section 5).
• The phone keeps a small local buffer: pending thoughts and their attachments (photos/audio), plus a copy of the most recent search results for offline reading. These stay inside the app's own sandbox, serve local features only, and are never uploaded to us; deleting the app deletes them.
• The pairing credential (the key needed to reach your own computer) is stored in the phone's system keychain — never in plaintext, never uploaded.
• If your computer isn't nearby, or isn't on the same network, the phone can read none of your memory.

3. What we collect

Answer: nothing.

• No account registration — no phone number or email required.
• No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry.
• Beyond what memory management requires, we read and scan nothing else.
• Update checks only go online when you trigger them, and only request version info — nothing personal is sent back.

4. Local encryption and the privacy vault

Fengchao provides a privacy vault (Relationships / Personal / Finance / Private). After you set a password, its content is stored in locally encrypted form (the key is derived from your 6-digit password, verified locally with SHA-256). Before you set a password, the vault content is stored in plaintext inside the local container — we recommend setting a password as soon as possible.

• The password stays local only — never uploaded, no backdoor.
• A forgotten password cannot be recovered — because Fengchao doesn't know what your password is.
• Bank cards, passwords, keys, ID numbers are auto-routed into the encrypted vault.

5. Use of AI models

Fengchao lets you configure a third-party model (DeepSeek, OpenAI, etc.) for semantic dialogue and retrieval augmentation. This is your choice, not the default.

• The API key is entered by you, stored only in your local secure storage; Fengchao doesn't store or upload it.
• Only when you initiate a conversation is the relevant text sent to the model service you configured.
• Privacy-vault content is never sent to any cloud model by default.
• Please read and comply with your configured model provider's own privacy policy.

6. External agent (antenna) access

Fengchao lets external AIs (agents) connect via MCP and read your public memory. Every connection is authorized by you (the main hive) actively issuing credentials.

• External agents can only submit candidates and read what you open — they cannot write formal memory directly.
• The privacy vault is locked to cloud antennas by default; local antennas also need your authorization.
• You can revoke any agent's authorization at any time.

7. Minors protection

Fengchao is for adults and not recommended for users under 18. Where genuinely needed, it requires guardian informed consent and full accompaniment. Minors' memory does not enter external antennas or cloud processing; it is stored encrypted once a password is set.

8. Your rights

• Export: one-click export of all your memory anytime, standard format, portable.
• Delete: delete anytime, first to the recycle bin (recoverable), permanently removed after emptying it.
• Migrate: back up and migrate your memory to another computer anytime.
• No retention: on uninstall, what happens to your memory is your decision — Fengchao doesn't intercept or withhold.
